Living and working between France and the UK, Jamie a freelance reporter and writer based between France and the UK with output across all media forms including BBC rolling channel coverage, Sky News, BBC Radio Scotland, AFP, The Herald, The Edinburgh Inquirer and The Edinburgh Reporter, having covered Humza Youssaf's resignation, the EU elections, the French National Assembly dissolution, the rise of the far right, German and Ausrian elections, in addition to wider issues in France including the Pelicot trial, Depardieu, environmental issues. Jamie has desk experience with BBC Scotland (radio) and BBC News London (UK flagship and channel). He also co-produces and hosts a fortnightly award-winning international affairs podcast. With solid presenting, teaching and communication skills, a native English speaker, he also speaks fluent French, masters German and has conversational Spanish. A 2024 John Schofield Trust fellow working with Rich Preston (BBC), Jamie is a multi award-winning journalist, including the Refugee Council for Scotland Media Awards 2024 and was highly commended for the 2024 Hugh Cudlipp prize. With a ten-year career in university teaching, Jamie re-trained in journalism at Edinburgh Napier; his areas of expertise are France, European affairs, UK politics, and environmental issues.
